Our skin needling device is a pen handpiece that oscillates at a rapid pace, multiple sterile needles up and down whilst it is passed across the skin. The penetration depth is adjustable from shallow to deep, depending on the skin condition, concern and treatment area. Skin needling creates thousands of fine puncture wounds in the skin which have a twofold benefit. The first is the micro-channels which allow significantly better product delivery deeper into the epidermal/dermal area and second, it creates thousands of controlled micro-injuries to the skin, which trigger a controlled healing response. This stimulates the production of new aligned and robust collagen and elastin.
Our Skin Needling is performed with the MDermaTM and is suitable for a wide range of skin concerns including:
- Aged skin
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Vertical lip lines
- Skin tightening and rejuvenation
- Enlarged pores
- Stretch marks
- Scarring (acne and surgical)
MDermaTM uses multiple needles to vertically pierce the skin with patent-pending AOVNTM (Advanced Oscillating Vertical Needle) technology. When moved across the skin, MDermaTM allows for millions of fine channels to be created in the skin. These channels can carry up to 80% more topical nutrients, allowing for transdermal delivery of these nutrients deeper into the skin to feed cells found in the dermis and basal layer of the epidermis.
MDermaTM systematically creates micro-punctures in the skin and the body responds in a natural way by launching processes to repair the physical damage. The result is an increased production of normal woven collagen, similar to fractional laser treatments, but without the side effects and downtime. MDermaTM treatments have also been found to be more effective and beneficial than most microdermabrasion and chemical peels.
When compared to traditional dermal rollers, MDermaTM causes less epidermal (skin) damage, which reduces pain and discomfort, and makes MDermaTM a safer, more comfortable, and more effective micro-needling treatment (see image below). The disposable cartridges eliminate risk of cross-contamination, whilst the adjustable needle depth allows for a treatment that is fully tailored to your individual needs. MDermaTM is so advanced, it is even suitable and safe to use in delicate and hard to reach areas such as those around the eyes and lips and on the nose.
How many treatments are recommended for rejuvenation, acne scarring and stretch marks? (General guide)
Rejuvenation: 2-6 treatments 4 weeks apart
Acne scarring: 4-6 treatments 6 weeks apart
Stretch marks: 4-8 treatments 4-6 weeks apart
How should I prepare my skin for Treatment?
For optimal results, an appropriate pre-treatment regime will be determined by your clinician to allow the skin’s strength to build-up (especially for thin or delicate skin areas). Continue to use prescribed products by your clinician after the treatments for a period of 6 weeks.
How long should it take before I see results?
Typically, you will see results after the first treatment. Lasting and more significant results will become visible after 4 to 6 treatments (spaced 4-6 weeks apart). The condition of your skin will continue to improve over the next 6-12 months after a course of treatments, especially when combined with the recommended post-treatment care.
Is the treatment painful?
For minimal needle depths, MDermaTM Treatments are relatively painless. Treatments using depths over 0.5mm may require a topical anaesthetic cream to be applied for 15-40 minutes before the procedure. This will render the treatments virtually pain-free.
Is there any downtime after treatments?
Generally, no, but you may experience facial redness for 12- 48 hours after the treatment. Most people are able to return to normal daily activities immediately after the treatment. Application of a breathable mineral makeup will seal the skin and cover any redness for an immediate return to work.
How soon after filler/muscle relaxant injections can I have a Treatment?
While there is no clinical evidence that MDermaTM Treatments counteract with any particular injectables, it is important to let your clinician know if you have had an injectable treatment, or are planning on having one done in the near future. Your clinician will be able to advise you on when to schedule your treatment appropriately.
